What would you think about a new Pocock cedar single built in a more modern hull shape? Currently, Pocock Classic has the forms to create Standard and Teardrop forms, but there’s been a lot of change in modern hull shapes that would be pretty straightforward to create in cedar.

    Thoughts, anyone?

I built a cedar-strip single loosely based on Graeme King’s Kingfisher last year. It’s monocoque construction with a hard deck, like a modern shell, not framed. So the strip-building technique works. I used 1/8″ strips with 2-oz glass. I don’t know where you would find perfect pieces of cedar like George Pocock would use or how the material would work with monocoque construction.
