Meet the Pocock Team – Amy Winner

This is the first in a series of blog posts to help you get to know the staff at Pocock. Isn’t it nice to put a face with the name when you call the shop? Amy handles all things marketing at Pocock, and frequently forces John and Bill to be her recipe-tester guinea pigs.

Amy joined the Pocock team in March of 2010. She’s an east coast native who moved out to Seattle in early 2008. After a 2-year stint at the ASP software startup Imprev as the Director of Marketing, she’s pleased to be back in rowing.

Amy started rowing as a freshman in college at Loyola University in Baltimore. After graduating, she worked at the international advertising agency Lowe & Partners in the Manhattan office as a Media Planner on the Johnson & Johnson account, and started coaching at Fordham University. In 1999, she moved to Philly to coach the novice women at Villanova University and to join the sales and marketing team at rowing electronics manufacturer Nielsen-Kellerman. Over the next nine years, Amy oversaw all marketing initiatives for both the NK Rowing and Kestrel Weather Instrument lines, and was part of the product group that developed the SpeedCoach Gold and XL, Cadence Watch, and the new Cox-Box.

While working at NK, Amy spent ample time in the coaching launch as well. After her two-year stint at Villanova, she started the Bishop Eustace Prep girls’ high school team. She’s also since coached the competitive racing team at Undine Barge Club and the varsity women St. Joseph’s University.

In addition to working at Pocock, Amy is a social media and marketing consultant specializing in helping small business owners develop engaged customer communities. She blogs on social media and online marketing trends on her professional blog amywinner.com. Amy’s also on the Board of Directors for the Seattle Net Impact Professional Chapter – a global CSR (corporate social responsibility) organization focused on changing the world through business.

In her spare time, Amy does a lot of running and yoga, and is an avid home cook and food blogger. Next time you don’t know what to make for dinner, check out her food blog Seattle Palate.
